FAÇADE STUDY

Case Study: Beyond Interior Design

This façade transformation showcases my holistic approach to design, combining architectural expertise, interior design knowledge and a deep understanding of materials, proportions and functionality.

This façade transformation is an example of how thoughtful design can enhance the character of an existing home while creating a more contemporary and cohesive aesthetic.

The clients wanted to refresh the exterior of their property while preserving the warmth and charm of its original brick façade. Rather than replacing the existing brickwork, I proposed a finish to introduce a softer, updated colour palette while maintaining the traditional character often associated with English homes. Selected areas of the façade were complemented with new render to create contrast, balance and a more refined architectural composition.

As part of the transformation, the clients requested the addition of an open porch. To ensure this new element felt naturally integrated with the existing house, I designed a pitched-roof structure that follows the original roofline, creating a seamless transition between old and new.

Every detail, from proportions and materials to architectural connections, was carefully considered to achieve harmony, functionality and a timeless result.

The concept visual was created using AI as a visualisation tool in my design process, helping to communicate the vision more clearly and allowing clients to better understand the proposed transformation.

This project represents the difference between simply updating a home and thoughtfully redesigning it, creating spaces that are not only beautiful, but functional, personal and designed to stand the test of time.
